First names of Hustopečské Skákání 2016 announced


Once again top Czech and world high jumpers will meet in the Czech town of Hustopeče on 12th and 13th of February 2016. The town"s sports hall will host the 17th international high jump meeting Hustopečské Skákání Agrotec 2016.

For the first time the meeting will be held as the Milena Hübnerová Memorial, in memory of the Czech female Olympic high jump champion from Mexico 1968.

Among the Czech female athletes are Oldřiška Marešová and Míša Hrubá, who will be attempting to reach the qualifying height of 193cm for the World Indoor Championships and the Olympics. The triple Hustopeče winner, Czech best male high jumper and the Olympic medal winner with a PB of 237cm, Jaroslav Bába, will also be present.

The double European champion Ruth Beitia of Spain, as well as last year"s world number three Gianmarco Tamberi of Italy and the 2011 world champion Jesse Williams of the USA, all confirmed their participation.

Among the other female participants of Hustopečské Skákání 2016 are Uzbekistan"s Nadiya Dusanova, the winner of indoor and outdoor championships, Levern Spencer from Saint Lucia, the 2015 winner of PanAm Games, Iryna Herashchenko from Ukraine, the bronze medal winner from 2015 under 23 European Championships. Among the male participants we can anticipate Italy"s Silvano Chesani, the 2015 European Indoor Championship silver and 2015 Hustopeče bronze medallist, and Poland"s Sylwester Bednarek, the world championship bronze medallist.

This year"s Guest of Honour and one of the meeting"s ambassadors will be the current European record holder with 242cm and the triple Olympic medallist Patrik Sjöberg from Sweden, with his first ever visit to the Czech Republic.
